WAIC 2026 Brings More Than 1,100 Exhibitors to Shanghai as New Global AI Cooperation Organisation Is Established

WAIC 2026 combined a record-scale exhibition with the establishment of a new intergovernmental AI cooperation organisation headquartered in Shanghai.

The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026) was held in Shanghai from 17 to 20 July under the theme “Intelligent Partners, Creating the Future Together.”

According to the Shanghai Municipal Government, the exhibition area exceeded 100,000 square metres for the first time. More than 1,100 companies presented over 3,000 products and technologies, with more than 300 products scheduled for global debut.

A major institutional development accompanied the conference period: representatives of 29 countries signed the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization. Official Shanghai information states that the organisation is an independent intergovernmental organisation headquartered in Shanghai.

For the robotics sector, WAIC 2026 also highlighted embodied intelligence, humanoid robots, intelligent computing and autonomous systems, reflecting the growing convergence between AI and physical robotic systems.
