China's 15th Five-Year Plan places robotics at the centre of its modern industrial system and links AI more closely with physical applications.

China has launched its 15th Five-Year Plan with robotics positioned at the heart of the country's modern industrial system. According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the framework marks a further shift from artificial-intelligence research toward physical and industrial applications.

IFR reports that China's manufacturing sector already operates around 2 million industrial robots. China accounted for 54% of annual industrial robot installations worldwide in the latest available IFR data.

The strategy places greater emphasis on high-end intelligent robotics integrated with AI and highlights areas such as embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics. For organisations active in the Europe–China robotics ecosystem, the plan provides important context for the next phase of China's automation and robotics development.
